Restrained, abused, and neglected. Precious is the story of a 16 year old girl with a life driven by tragedy —— but this does not stop her from dreaming. Based on the Novel “Push” by Sapphire, Clareece “Precious” Jones (Gabourey Sidibe) carries the weight of her abusive household on her shoulders. Caring for her vile mother (Mo’Nique), waiting on her hand and foot. The extreme abuse that Precious endures is excruciating and hard to watch, but later demonstrates the resilience that Precious is able to reclaim. As Precious attends school, she comes to learn that she is pregnant with her second child by her violent father. Forced to transfer to an alternative school, she meets Ms. Blu Rain (Paula Patton) who wants only to contribute to positivity in Precious' life. Throughout the film, encouragement and support from other women influence Precious to pursue her dreams and live a life that she deserves. Precious is a story that one never forgets.
